I'm not usually the guy who skates around this stuff but I think my PA trailer inspection days are over LOL. I know what I have under me, or should I say behind me, and do not need some half witted nosepicker verifying it for me.
The last time I had one of those inspections done in 16 I believe, the guy started by getting ready to place the jack under the center of the axle tube until I questioned him. Then he pulled the breakaway switch while the trailer was still plugged into the 7 way, despite specifically being told not to. That was at a large equipment and utility trailer dealer and I believe I paid $79 for the experience.
Ralph, you might want to stay off the over-priced turnpike, you would be a sitting duck for the inspection collection police. The cop told me that he can be busy all day long completing the pre-printed tickets. They need to pay the big pensions somehow. ;)
I too, had an idiot bring out the largest floor jack that I have ever seen. It was so wide that when next to the tire the contact point was near the axle center. I left with the inspection incomplete. I mentioned it here some time ago and as usual was chastised by the experts for complaining.
I have had some luck with finding stations that will accept my brake photos on my cellphone, and currently do it that way. Yes, I know that it takes a sensible guy to play along. :C
And therein lies my main concern. We go Turnpike about 1/2 our trips. I agree it really is ridiculous, but so far, with the local garage being 1/2 mile away and not too inconvenient or costly, I've been keeping up with it.Road side hassles are not something I care to engage in. Just me.
