Fair price for used Yamaha EF2800I

Opinions please of a fair price for a used Yamaha EF2800I. Retail is 1500 USD and is evidently not discounted according to the online big generator sellers. 100 hours allegedly. TIA.
  • found one on e bay one hour on meter, bid is $475.one hour to go on auction, one on google used $900.
  • I sold my 10 year old one for $500. It went quick too. Under priced? Maybe.
  • I asked $900 for a lightly used (50 hours) Yamaha 2400ISHC and got no takers. I think a lot of people see new units in the same power range from other manufacturers at Harbor Freight for $600 ~ $700 and think $900 on a used Yamaha is just too much.

I'd agree, with one exception - post an ad here in Ontario for a used Honda EU2000i for $1000 Cdn (sells new for ~ $1500 Cdn) and it's a race to see who is lucky enough to grab it first. I've done it twice myself, no issues at all in getting a quick sale. Now that the EU2200i is available for the same price new that will no doubt put pressure on EU2000i owners to drop their asking price a bit but the genset will still sell quickly. :B
  • I sold my 10 year old EF2800I on Flea Bay for a grand 2 years ago. Bought a Champion and banked the remainder of the money. Good genny but at 10 years old I was worried about the electronics going south.
  • 50% of the cost of a Champion 3400 watt with remote electric start.
  • I recently sold my 8 year old, lightly used, Honda EU2000i on Craigslist for $800. That is only $50 less than I paid for it new.
