Fall in South Dakota

I'm not expecting a guarantee of time line, but, as a general rule, when do the leaves begin turning? I am especially looking around the Spearfish area. Thanks guys

  • Thanks guys, planning our fall trip. Coming from Colorado, I know how the fall weather can turn, but would like a little color. Will start looking now...........
  • Keep in mind that they had 3 feet of snow there the first week of Oct. last year. It's a beautiful part of the country so enjoy but keep an eye on the weather forecast.

We left Custer City and headed back to WI just two days ahead of the big storm. The RV park we were in got buried, 2-1/2 feet.
  • depending on the weather and part of the state, the leaves start turning sometime in September and by Halloween are gone
