On a 20 foot awning you could have 160 square feet of sail. On more than one night I was driven from my warm bed to retract the awning in the wind and or rain. I get what you are saying. Is there an over ride you can use so the call to retract is yours and not the awnings?
There are adjustments for sensitivity, but I'm happy with the sensitivity. It's the bouncing I don't like. Imagine this 160 square feet being connected to the coach only on the edge. The leverage on the attachment point is incredibly high.
When I see it go in, I'm totally in agreement with the awning's decision. It's just a poor attachment design.
The Carefree power awning's design is much better. Granted, it doesn't look as good as the Girard but that scissor strut seems like a much better support for an awning than a single attachment at the end.
