Fantastic Fan question

My fantastic fan would not turn on when I opened the roof vent and turn the switch on. Fuse was fine,I turned off the fan then removed screen and reached through the blades with my finger tips and tried to move the sensor for the roof vent to see if that was the problem. The fan worked when I turned the switch on but when I closed the vent and opened again the fan would not turn back on.
My question is how does the sensor work? It doesn't appear to have a spring inside and really doesn't move at all.
  • the plunger is what was wrong with mine. I call the factory and they told me how to do it and it is still working like a champ.
  • I wasn't sure if the sensor/plunger would go bad or not. I'll just try a little contact cleaner any reinstall it tomorrow. Thanks guys!
  • You don't even need to tighten it as you might strip the plastic out. The entire plunger contact is in the open air and corrodes in the weather. All that's typically needed is to take the plunger and twist it around slightly with a little up pressure to clean off the contact and you'll be good till next time.

    Contact cleaner is even better.
  • Ours works off the humidistat on auto... but there is a push pull switch on the fan itself that either controls on auto or manual. In our climate we want it just on manual but we also know that in high humidity the switch will open the hatch and start the fan automatically.
  • The plunger switch has a history of losing ground. Remove the cover on top and tighten it with a wrench.
