Fed Cuts Rates: Will RV Rates Follow?

Wishful thinking. Those overnight fed rate cuts aren't meant for the average Joe...they are for the rich.

well ask. and I would shop around for a better rate. just me but I would not use the dealer as my loan company.

Wrong. This type of rate cut affects short-term rates (but not long-term). Any one with an ARM (Adjustable Rate Mortgage) should see a rate cut and there is the possibility of rate cuts for other types of consumer loans. The down side is it may negatively affect bank interest rates on savings accounts and the like. If anything it will have a more negative affect on those who are "rich" as they may have more investments that will be affected. These types of cuts are designed to stimulate an entire economy, not to benefit one economic group over another.

To the OP-ask if you can renegotiate or shop around. Even 1/2 of a percent will save money in the long-term as you will pay less interest.

With a 1/2% rate cut they just fired 2 "bullets", for what? At 1% they don't have many bullets left in their gun, and the economy isn't even bad, yet.

No, they don't.

When is the economy considered "just fine" and just leave it alone? I guess this is an effort to sustain it during a time of crisis.

I mean, we've gone from 18k to 26k in just 3 years, which seems pretty darn good to me. The market doesn't go up forever..at least not quickly.

The DOW was at 7,300 in March 2009. It climbed to 20,000 by January 2017, almost 200% gain. Then from January 2017 to today's 26,000...a 30% gain. Neither of these are common. It HAD to end sometime. Dropping the federal rate won't do squat for this scenario. I've been through this a couple of time in my life.....the Reagan era was one of those.

My first eye-opener was the dot com crash. Then came 2008. This feels the same to me.. too high, too fast, and overbought. As we see it doesn't take much of a crisis to send it tumbling. I sold every mutual fund I own a year ago in anticipation of this. I hope I'm right.. but we never know.

I've been watching "The Big Short" movie over and over this week. If you haven't seen it, it's a very good synopsis of the housing crash. I don't know if there's any abject fraud going on in this market, but our president seems to think the market and the economy should always be going up - like house values in 2005.

That frightens me.

I just saw this: The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged to session lows Tuesday, as it swung from a 376-point gain to a 900-point loss following the Fed's surprise rate cut.
