FWIW, I keep a flatbed trailer on a vacant lot in Los Anchorage. I chain two wheels per side together and to/through the frame. I also lock the hitch.
.....but I leave that trailer for 2-3 weeks at a time.
If those folks are worried about stealing, more power to them to lockup their assets.
