And have you found the same thing I have? If you live a good long time and have a decent recall of your many weird medical diagnoses and a family that practically required a live-in MD, you tell the Dr your current problem and....they give you this patronizing little smile and write down something like "possible cyber-chondriac?" One neurologist told me last year (following a TIA that left me with hearing loss in one ear) that "medically savvy" was written on my chart. Many doctors have asked me if I was a nurse. Some of them were legitimately asking and some a bit sarcastically. It's like they think everybody should be from a farm in the Midwest circa 1847. :R
Sorry, didn't see this response untill just now. Oh yes indeed, have I ever seen the "little smile" you refer to. Recently went to see a very highly recommended opthalmologist practice. I had some eyelashes that I could clearly see sticking me in the eye. 1st doc removed some I didn't see...but couldn't see the ones I did and sent me home with a steroid eye drop scrip. Went back the next day and got the other doc... SHE was incredibly rude, arrogant and absolutely would not listen to me. She said... I can't remove what doesn't exist. I asked her why I could clearly see them and she couldn't. No answer. Next day.. DH has an appt with a third doc who owns the practice. I told him when he was done with DH he and I needed to have a conversation.
I explained what happened and he apologized and looked at my eye. He too said... I don't see what you are talking about...the lashes all appear normal. But he did take out the 3 I was talking about.
Within 2 hours my eye quit hurting and was fine. I knew what I was talking about. But 3 docs wouldn't listen to me. The lashes were catching on the lowers and sticking my eye!
So... yes. I know what you are talking about.
