The wood was sitting in the exact same spot we had camped at last year with no trouble. Problem may have been that the ground was strewn with landscape type small rocks and the wood was on a wobbly surface. Also I had 2 pieces of smaller wood sitting on 2 pieces of bigger wood and I may have cranked it up too quickly. The wood from Home Depot was much better and at next campground I made sure the ground was as flat as possible. It turned out ok
