Final Flush/Dump

Will be making the final dump after Thanksgiving weekend. I usually do an extended flushing with the tank flush and soapy water etc..... Just had a flash of insight....I think. What if I connected the outdoor shower to the tank flush, and ran hot water thru it? I would imagine it would do a better job of cleaning. WHat am I missing? What major disaster am I about to embarke on? I need to know before my wife jumps onboard. I just screwed up and set her slowcooker on fire, don't need to give her any more reasons to have me put away....

  • Nope... But if I was going to do it I would connect to the hot water in the house maybe fill the tank about halfway and then move the trailer back and fourth a few time to get things to slosh around and then dump before it has a chance to cool down....But, then I would not do this...
  • OK..other than pressure questions, and possibly being anal about being too clean... are there any down sides to doing this???

My RV has separate black and grey valves; ie the grey does not flush the black so I have to use this. By refilling after the first flush, tanks end up very clean. Warm water/soap would improve cleaning slightly, while hot water from a large household tank might dissolve grease, etc. stuck to sensors.
  • HotByte - I'd be hooked to a city water outlet so the pressure should be good.

Old Biscut - Not worried about clean, worried about caked on crud on the sensors.
once they are covered and left, they are pretty mush useless.

    Ahh OCD.

Now I understand why my quicky flush/winterization takes 30 minutes while my final flush/dump/winterization took 5 hours:R
  • There would be no pressure and I don't think there would be any real benift of 6 or 9 gallons of hot.

For my final dump I go to the dump station when it's not busy and take a 5 gallon bucket with me. After the intial dump I put 3 or 4 buckets down (20 gallons) the head till the water comes out clean. I may have to do that two or three times. It amazes me how much nasty comes out after the inital dump...
  • Do you really need the black waste tank that clean???

  • Would it have enough pressure to do any good? If you can get camper near a window or door where your home washing machine is, disconnect hot water hose and run long hose to it. I've heard of folks installing a hot water outdoor spigot for washing cars, etc.
