Alpine, Arizona is in the White Mountains near the New Mexico border. It's about 8500 elevation and summers are much cooler than the desert floors of Phoenix and Tucson. We drive four hours door to door to get out of the heat! Pine forest hiking, biking, fishing etc. Good respite from the heat! Wallow fire two years ago nearly devastated the area, but much of the valleys were saved. Our hideaway until we get to retire!
