You may have a lower interest rate but the overall interest cost will be the same or higher. The best way to save on interest is to finance the lowest amount possible and pay it off early. Only one extra payment per year will save a ton more money than a slightly lower rate.
Great sales incentive if this is from the dealer: "Gee, I sure would like to help you save money. Tell you what, if you spend an extra $1,000 I can lower your interest rate."
