I would think if there is a ban on camp fires, it would include all open flames.
The ban sucks but, it's better than burning down thousands of acres and several homes.
Is there such a thing as an Electric/LED Camp Fire? It wouldn't be as neat but you would still have a focal point for the evening gathering.
I know, you can't make smores and hot dogs over a LED flame. :)
