Most of my important papers and copies of certain IDs are in a safe deposit box at a bank. Certified copies of some documents (property deeds, birth certificates, and personal insurance papers. Wills already filed and held by local court and attys) are in the keeping of a younger and trusted family member. The only docs I keep on my person are passports and c/cards. I don't trust those personal metal security boxes to be safe from a break-in, fire or much else that Mother Nature or mankind can dish out. I also scan important papers and keep them on a flash drive. The flash drive files will "hold my place" until actuals are received.
