Fire!

A friend of mine was out in his yard and heard a strange beeping. He investigated and saw flames inside of his motor home. He grabbed the fire extinguisher and put a quick end to the potential disaster. His television just started burning. He did have 120 volt electricity plugged in, but the TV was turned off. I think I will turn off all unneeded circuit breakers while we are done for the season and just keep the batteries charged. Has anybody else had a problem like this?

I'm curious what brand the TV was?

X2. That information may prevent someone else from a similar problem.
  • Given that most modern TV's and many other electronic appliances are never really "Off" as long as they're plugged in to a live power source, I'm almost surprised this doesn't occur more frequently.
  • that's one of the reasons that I do NOT keep my RV plugged into the 120v AC. I keep the batteries up with a good multi state marine charger totally separate from the RV wiring.
