Jaws closed themselves somehow and were in the closed position after once you came to a stop.
So in effect jaws open themselves as you were traveling, released trailer pin and then closed themselves again?
What's more, the locking pin would have had to come out, and the cam actuating arm would have to open (only way jaws can open), and then arm would have to close and replace locking pin, that also has a retainer.
Anyone, with this hitch, only needs to look closely at the jaws, while operating the cam locking arm to see how jaws will not open without releasing the arm.
Sorry OP, that this happened to you!! You have a very nice rig!! I hope you come to a conclusion, as to what went wrong.
