A lot has been said about high hitching, and how it leaves a gap. There is the other way to screw up. Submarine the pin, you miss the slot, the pin rides up and over the 5th wheel, then drops down. Once again you can travel a long ways without dropping the trailer. If you just glance at the hitch, it looks fine no gap.
You must get out of the cab, go back, duck walk under and look at the pin with a flashlight, before you dolly up.
