I once loaned my flatbed trailer (bumper-hitch style) to a friend who had it fall off his hitch.
He's a guy who has worked with trucks of all sizes all his life. He swears he had it hitched right and it's faulty, but I've towed that trailer thousands of miles. When I hitch it up, I can jack the trailer up and it lifts the truck with it. It's absolutely solid.
He HAD to have mis-latched it.
