before this thread even happened... I always wondered why there wasn't a secondary safety latch like the one being designed above. Not to steal your thunder, but I had the same idea in my head...just need a small spring on it. :W
You simply cannot engineer something for every possible event. If the latch would make you feel better by all means gin one up, but mine works just fine without it.
I've always wondered that too. And also why products like a bedsaver aren't required like safety chains on a ball hitch design.
Well word on the street is Butches and the Blue Ox are no longer on the market.
The butches, was a manual device, if you forgot to latch was useless. the Blue Ox to me would by design contribute to high hitching.
I check my hitch every time I pass under the front, that is the best insurance you can get.
