Actually not. They can be the same size. BUT, If you are flying another countries flag beside the American Flag in the US. The American flag has to be HIGHER than the other. Just as when a state flag, and an American flag are together. The US flag must be higher.

Now lets say I`m in Canada, which I will be this time next Thursday :B. and I have a US flag and Canadian flag. which one should be the highest?

Well logic would dictate, The Canadian Flag would be higher. However, as The US Flag is NEVER to be dipped to another country. I believe an American, would fly the US flag higher.

When flags of two of more nations are displayed, they are to be flown from separate staffs of the same height. The flags should be of approximately equal size. International usage forbids the display of the flag of one nation above that of another nation in time of peace.
