Flat towing Ford Ranger

What is needed to flat tow a Ranger.
If it's a manual trans does it need to have a neutral selection for the transfer case?
Doing a search, it looks like with a man trans, all thats required is to make sure its in neutral. Is there a certain position the transfer case needs to be in?
