Flat Towing New Ford F150 Or Dodge Ram 1500?

I would like to hear from someone who is actually flat towing a 2015 or 16 Ford F150 or a Dodge Ram 1500 as to what is involved in getting it ready to tow. I'm presently towing a GMC in which all I have to do is put the transfer case in neutral, take out the key and I'm ready to go. But I understand that new GMC's require additional preparation such as removing a fuse, etc. So I am looking at either a Ford or Dodge. I've been told that both can now be towed without any special preparation, but I can't get that confirmed by a dealer.

So, I would appreciate any information from those that may be towing wither the new Dodge or Ford pickups.

I have a 2015 F-150 that I tow. Putting on the Blue Ox base plate was a breeze, took a couple of hours and was really taking my time. I also put on a M&G brake unit. That went on smoothly in about 2 hours, including hooking up the break away switch and cylinder.
As far as getting ready to tow, put the transmission in neutral and with the ignition on, rotate the transfer case control knob 5 times between 4x2 and 4x4L and the display will then say that you have enabled tow mode. Turn the ignition off and you are ready to go.
  • I have never flat towed my truck. But I can confirm that my 14'Ram 1500 with an electronic transfer-case does have a neutral button.
  • Has to be 4X4 and our 2008 RAM all you have to do is put the tranny in park, transfer case in neutral and unlock the steering wheel. Can't say about the newer ones.
