One of the big concerns I would have with the lock on the set up as described by the OP, is that under bed outside door allows access to the inside of the RV. Just open the door, crawl inside and push up on the bed and you are inside the rig. I would consider reinforcing the door with some diamond plate and a better lock. Nothing will stop a determined thief, but a good lock will help keep honest people honest, and kids out that are just snooping.
Most of the low life thieves are not looking to do much work, just a grab and go or a break and enter. If they had any real ambition, they would be working on Wall Street stealing millions of dollars.
Anything a person can do to deter them and make them go elsewhere to an easier target, will help. On our previous 5th wheel, I changed the locks on the front compartment. We had it parked on land we owned on a river. While we were gone, someone took a rock from our fire pit and smashed the window in the main entrance door, reached inside and unlocked the door. Then stole a few items from inside, nothing serious was taken.
