Just got back from a weeks worth of camping at three different campgrounds. One of the things I do during set up is to raise my flag on the rear ladder of my fifth wheel. Been doing that since I bought the camper. What I have come to notice is, I was the only person who did this. I'm hoping the patriotic spirit has nor completely disappeared in our great American past time!

We fly ours at every campsite we visit.

Have my flag, ready to build a PVC flag pole that holds the colors at a 45 degree angle, if only I could figure out the rod or metal post to drive into the ground. I scouted the park a week ago for one of these to see what they used, hopefully I'll find one Memorial Day weekend when I have the trailer out for my next trip.Thanks for posting your note, encouraging others to do the same.

I mounted a metal adjustable flag pole holder on my pin box to fly ole glory from. I am in the process of fabricating a LED light holder for lighting her at night.

TomHaycraft, to fly flag on the PVC pole, I use a piece of rebar about 4 feet long. Drive into the ground about 18 - 24 inches. You can get the rebar at home depot or lowes. Also get a washer to place over the rebar on the ground, then place the PCV pole over the rebar and on top of the washer. The PVC pole will spin easy on the washer.

I do not fly every day but do on occasion. The reason is I use the flag pole for other things. One of these days I'll rig the pole so I can both fly the flag and my antennas on the same pole.

I vote, pay taxes, served in the military, served jury duty and fly a windsock. Probably a lot more patriotic than most Americans.

EDIT. I also play John Wayne's America, Why I Love Her, every 4th of July.

I attach a small flag to my antenna. Most of the time I am the only one at the campground flying the flag. I do for my family members who are veterans.

if we are going to be parked somewhere for more than a day or two, our flag is up and on display .... we do take it down during periods of high wind

We have several small flags that we put by our campsite wherever we camp. Our grandkids love poking them into the ground and watching the wind move them. Does it make anyone anymore patriotic--probably not, but it does show their love for our flag and what it stands for.

Whatever gave you the idea that they won't light their flag in a campground? I've been to a couple where people did that. In a well lit campground with street lights, no big deal. But one of these was at a county campground and that was the only light other than the one by the toilets. I'm sure he felt super patriotic but I found it annoying.

Actually, I do light it at night. See the ladder mounted flag in my signature? I have a 12v light mounted on the roof that shines up on the flag. It is an LED light and I even illuminate the flag when dry camping/boondocking.

I love to see the flag flown by the various RVers (and others). I did for a long time but when the flag became tired and weary I stopped. I'm still as patriotic as anyone, I think.
Its kinda like the gal who always sits in the front pew....doesn't make her any more religious....maybe shes just hard of hearing.
