Beat it to death all you want.
Ex: So. Cal 405 fwy. Speed limit is 65 mph (*not* towing).
Other than rush hours, vehicles routinely travel at 80 mph.
(Often the lane nearest to the HOV lane is moving considerably faster - 'cause a driver in the HOV lane will be "observant" of the posted speed)
Become "the point man" at something faster than everyone else, and you will get CHP attention.
(BTW - Rush hour speeds vary between *stop* -to- 15mph or so, depending on time and location/s)
All over CA - truckers towing trailers routinely drive at approx 62 mph. Some faster, some slower.
Folks towing trailers and boats do the same.
On heavily traveled freeways - CHP (usually) has lots better things to do - and prefers to keep traffic moving.
Had my first CA DL in 1958 - and nothing has changed.
(Well except for the silly 'double nickel' era for everyone).
Also - The *REAL* Authority Having Jurisdiction - whether correct or incorrect - is the guy or gal behind the badge on the side of the road
However - - Guess it gives someone something for discussion..:W
