For The Beginners Toolbox

Here is a kit that I bought for our MH, it doesn't include everything you need but it sure is a good start. tool kit
Add a few things for electrical repairs, tire changes, different tapes, and the like and you should be good to go.

WoodGlue ...Really all ya need is a cell phone to call someone to fix it for ya & a credit card to pay for it & a cold beer while ya wait. Doesn't get any better than that.

I also carry all this stuff in my TT as well!

This looks like the same drill your friend was talking about: Looks small and able to get into so e hard spots!!!

I want to have what I need to change a tire, disconnect a battery, fix a problem with a wire, repair a radiator leak, put out a kitchen or engine fire, jump start the vehicle or help someone else. I look at it from a task perspective. If I have a mechanical problem with the truck or the AC or furnace I am not going to fix it on the road but take it to a dealer.

I carry road flares, and tools for minor repairs (screwdrivers, pliers, vise-grips, spare fuses, wrench set, VOM meter, duct tape, electrical tape, pry bar, jumper cables, bailing wire, radiator stop leak, hand cleaner and rags). One a trip last year I used everything except the radiator stop leak, bailing wire, and the road flares.

There are quasi emergency situations where I want to be able to take care of the problem myself and that includes an electrical short, fire, flat tire, radiator leak, dead battery, blown fuse.

I use one of those kits-in-a-case in my RV. Similar to link #3 above but with a full set of sockets and sae/metric wrenches. Got it for $20 on sale at Target. Sure, they're not the highest quality tools, but they do the job in the RV, and it avoids raiding my home toolbox when we leave. I've used almost every item in the kit at one time or another.

I rarely carry a standard screwdriver.
It may have tips you will never use, but it does have 2 flat, 2 Phillips, 3 sizes of nut drivers (hello pipe clamps) and most importantly a square tip for the screws everyone on here seems to love.
I second the channel locks as well.

for about the same $ I use this from Sears. doesn't have the Torx head but you'll never lose a screwdriver bit.
