I think it may not be related to camping but to traveling in general. I've gotten grilled like a Whopper over some of our trips. Some trips have elicited the response of "what a waste of money!" Sometimes they say, "how can you afford that??" Sometimes it's, "you're going there again???"
I think some think we're "rich" because we travel. We drive older vehicles and try to live more frugally, just so we can go camping and take trips.
Long story short, I pretty much keep our plans to ourselves now because I don't want to hear it anymore!
