What I forgot to mention earlier are the memories you will create. A resent trip with the DGKs provided me with a great one: My DGD got tired of roasting marshmallows and ask me to cut up a pear for her to roast. If you have never done one or any other fruit like peaches and nectarines, you don't know what you are missing. She and I have a new favorite campfire activity.
You've got to love the imagination of kids. That is a great reason to let them help plan around some big sites.
