It's THEIR problem to figure it out or refund your money.
Ford most certainly has some sort of "tech support" system that the local technicians can call if they run into an issue that they do not know the solution for.
These vehicles are so complicated that there is no way the local guy knows everything about everything. There has to be a mechanism in place for when the procedures don't go as described.
