We first went to Ft. Wilderness in 1975. Back then there was a canal that ran behind each camp spot with a canoe for the folks there to use. I also remember deer roaming around, especially on the beach. Dinner in the lodge was the 'Review' and was served in metal buckets family style at the table with unlimited refills. We camped and used the laundry room to dry out our sleeping bags once when it rained and the tent wasn't closed right. Yup, tent camped.
I'd say it was much better back in those days of Davey Crockett!
