My brother does, brick and mortar snowbirding, on a 3 1/2 month cycle, but has to have someone catch his forwarded mail that needs to go back. Forwarding back doesn't always work, if you can even get the receiving PO to do it.
Might work better if your turnarounds are well defined, and you can do "forward until" without glitches.
There will be a certain amount of probably important mail sent "do not forward" or "address service requested" and the PO is required to honor that. You can loseor delay things or get unwanted change of address that way.
