When draining water heater white chunks came out and anode rod eaten away in places.new 2014 hideout 2 months old camped twice 6 days total.I am thinking I should request that water heater be relaced ...

Just flush it out when you winterize. If you have some of the anode left, it's working as it should. Your system is being protected. We keep a spare anode in the HW heater compartment so I always know I have one.
