This doesn't make sense. The good quality white water hoses are tasteless. On occasion, if the hose is sitting in the sun for several hours, you may get a few seconds of hot/plastic tasting water. We've been RVing for 40 years, with many types of hoses and have never had this issue.
Walmart sells Camco hoses and other products. I don't find Camco to be crap!
In regards to something easy to store, I bought a hose reel, the manually retractable type, like you see at a gas station and mounted it in a dead area of the coach and ran pvc to the water bay to connect it.
