Fresh water question

It varies. We never draw it completely down except when putting up for a while.
Depending on the water source I may put in some water freshner( bleach).
I remove any coming into the coach with filters and the stuff from CW does not taste as bad as any city water. We drink from a separate trap with its own filter that gets that though.
Usually use water from campground and leave tank full unless it is bad and use the tank water then or for pressure issues. Always keep the tank clean and sanitized.

In the last 10+ years, we have never sanitized the water tank. We do drain it in the winter, and we don't fill it if we are somewhere with unapealing water.

I sanitize and put water in the tank in the spring. How full depends on our first trip, 1/3 if we will have hookups, full if dry camping. During the season I add water as necessary. In the fall I empty the tank. Next year I go thru the routine again.

I sanitize the tank in the spring and fill it. I add water as needed during the season. I drain it at the end of the season. Drink from it, and make ice cubes. Ice cubes must be good as it doesn't affect the taste of my bourbon. Of course, I don't give them a lot of time to melt. :)

Well lets see.......Nov. 18th, 2006 I filled our fresh water tank
As of today it still has water in it.

When it gets down to 1/3 tank I fill it back up.
The one time I did drain it was after we had to fill with well water source.

Other than that........it's never been drained just topped off as needed.
The tank is nothing more than a very large water bottle.
The water is treated, tested and is deemed safe from the various agencies across the USA.

Course I grew up on a ranch and drank from horse troughs, muddy pools and green water hoses....ate dirt and bugs too :B

When we return from a trip the first thing I do is make sure our water tanks are filled to capacity. Being full of treated water helps prevent bacteria and mold build up in the tank. If it's more than a month or two before I take my next trip, I'll drain and refill tank again before we leave.

we usually travel with a full or nearly full tank and I don't usually empty it between trips. been doing that for many years and I've noticed no problem in the clarity or taste of the water.

We are so sporadic about the water in our tank, it would be hard to give you an idea of how often. But I will say this.....we have well water.....do NOT leave the well water (without bleach) in your tank, in 90-100 deg weather for three weeks.......Guaranteed to make you puke when you smell it. :) :)

If it has been 7 days without use, I drain and refill it. If it is being used, I use it till empty, or almost empty, and refill without regard to time.

OK, this is what I do after reading so many posts out there. I use 1/4 cup of bleach for every 15 gallons of fresh water. I run the pump until I smell bleach coming out of every faucet in the TT. I leave it sit in the pipes for 24 hours and then flush several times until I no longer smell bleach coming from the faucets. You can drain the fresh water tank from the bottom and hook up the city water to flush out the pipes and used less water to do the flushing. just make sure you flush until you no longer smell bleach. a little bleach will not hurt you , just flush as well as you can.
