So I recently read a post where a fellow mentioned turning off his refrigerator before filling up at the gas station and turning it back on when finished. I've never done this and never thought it was...

That wasn't gasoline FUMES igniting, it was gasoline LIQUID sprayed into the frig fire box that ignited!
I bet some fool thought it would be real funny to latch the nozzle open and cause a gas spill!
