Fridge whine

A fairly new rig with a common Dometic 8cf fridge.

On this last trip it started making a whining noise for a while before it lights. It did it once and then not again for a few days. Then again for a couple of hours (during normal cycling) and then not again for a day. Now home again.

We had lots of propane and 12V. Cooling seemed to be normal.

Do I have a problem or just an unpleasant noise?

Cooling fan?. Fridges that exhaust out of the side instead of the roof have a cooling fan that kicks in on demand.

OPs fridge is in slide out so could be a cooling fan
Could be solenoid on gas valve

OP needs to remove fridge access cover(s) and listen for source of noise
  • can only be two things, external cooling fan whine or the gas valve making noise. Like the other poster said, take the external covers off, energize the fridge and listen.

Any other way is just conjecture.
  • Reviving an old post, it's still noisey.

The fan is very quiet and it's definitely the gas valve, but only when something over 80°

    So can anything be done?
