- NJ6PACKExplorerI don't travel with the generators in the holder, I keep them locked in the van while travleing and the extended run tank is stored on the back of my tt in a proteced external carrier
Each Honda generator is about 50lbs plus the external tank plus gas , 30lbs so the whole thing is about 130lbs plus the material which I think weighed in about 75lbs so that put it about 205lbs......the hitch is rated for 500lbs
If you look at the pictures with the lights on, that is how the van is driven....no obstructios while driving.........it would be cool to try it with the whole set one day, just to see the looks on everyone's face. ;) - AH64IDExplorerThe thermostat will only allow as much flow as it can, if the temp into the engine is higher than it should be from a blocked radiator there isn't anything a thermostat can do once it's full open.
- wanderingbobExplorer IILook up " BODIAK Front Hitches " . I carry a Honda three thousand on mine . I did weld to small 'rings' on the outside edges to tighten the wobble with turnbuckles . Your thermostat should take care of engine heat , I know not about transmixer cooler !
- Bob_VaughnExplorerI am surprised that law enforcement hasn't stopped you for having an obstructed view......LOL

I just made this setup this winter.
I have 2 Honda generators that I run in parallel along with a Bergs dual feed extended run fuel tank
I installed a Curt front hitch then I made the generator holder.
The bottom part behind the licence plate (It has a hinged door)holds the fuel tank
The upper part holds the two generators. I dont travel with the generators or the fuel tank in the holder, Its only used when the van is parked.
I have another part of the cage that secures the generators to the upper part (Sorry no picture)and I also made some rain covers made from Seaboard
I also added 55watt H3 bulb driving lights, 2 for the Lo beams and 2 for the HI beams. both have a kill switch for urban areas to keep it legal.
System works great.....I dont hear the Generators while set up. The aux lighting really work great on dark roads late at night.
Hope I get the pictuere size correct
WOW!!!! What does that setup weigh?
Since I all ready have several hundred pounds in just winch and bumper I went with this. - wintersunExplorer IIIt will block the radiator for the engine cooling and it will block the cooler for the transmission as well. I would worry more about the transmission than the engine.
I saw a photo of a custom front rack that lowered the height of the platform for the generator so that a lot less air was diverted from the radiator. - AH64IDExplorerI have carried multiple things on the front hitch of my truck and anything bigger than a winch does have an effect on temps. You might not see much change in the coolant temp, but the IAT's and EGT's will increase.. possibly to the point where the ECM limits power but it's hard to know for sure.

Great idea!......but you will need a long cord to reach it. Ours rides between the Transfer Flow tank and the hitch and it takes a 30 ft extension cord to reach it while we overnight at truck stops/walmarts.
Beings the bedroom is above the hitch arn't you concerned about exhaust fumes from it?
It only gets used when we are awake and getting ready in the am or during our lunch stops.
With it in front of the hitch, it actually is not under the chin, it is out in front of the cap. - RJCorazzaExplorerI put a front mount hitch on an E350 years ago for the spare tire.... No overheating problems. Now with my trailer I have a heavy duty rear tray where I can carry our genset. I would like a front hitch on the F250, but it has a plow mount on it.
