Keeping both hands on the steering wheel and paying attention to the road is higlly advisable!
On the other hand loollygaging along, smoking, eating, simply talking and looking at the passenger or trying to see the GPS or phone, when the tire blows the startled reaction is to slam on the brakes, and it gets worst by having only one hand to control the steering wheel and the vehicle, that and having tires that are past due because they look good, or under inflated is also bad.
