Choochooman74, I have had mine two years and while recording some close calls have not filmed a hit.
I originally wanted one after we were side swiped in the van. Luckily a sheriff witnessed the hit and the guy was a DWI that ran from the sheriff. I decided to get a dash camera after that since you cannot always have a sheriff following you :)
I used one video to provide what-you-will-see directions to our hard to find property in the hills. We also use it to make video for birthday wishes, etc.
It does require a phone charger plug in since the battery life on ours is about 30 sec. at best.
