I have one. I love it. I just forgot to take off the protective film off the lens when I installed it. Here is a video from the first week I had it. Just don't mind us, we're crazy.
My fist dashcam video.
Good site for reviews.

Pretty good that your first video that you captured a fender bender.

Choochooman74, I have had mine two years and while recording some close calls have not filmed a hit.
I originally wanted one after we were side swiped in the van. Luckily a sheriff witnessed the hit and the guy was a DWI that ran from the sheriff. I decided to get a dash camera after that since you cannot always have a sheriff following you :)
I used one video to provide what-you-will-see directions to our hard to find property in the hills. We also use it to make video for birthday wishes, etc.
It does require a phone charger plug in since the battery life on ours is about 30 sec. at best.
I didn't realize what happened at first. We were on our way to the RV Show in Boston, stopping for a quick bite at the rest area, and watching my pyro temperature. I get out, wonder why this car is stopped in the driveway, and I hear the guy say "Buy me a coffee, and we call it even." That is when I realize what happened, went back, and hit the save button (since it wouldn't be an automatic save from G forces).
I bought a hardwired charger for mine. Wired it up and put the little box behind my A pillar gauge pod. It turns the camera on, and the camera turns off like 30 seconds after I turn the vehicle off.
