The cabinetry at the front of our RV (holds TV and other stuff) hangs down more than a foot below the top of the front windshield. It would be easy to mount a camera on the back of the cabinet (i.e. toward the forward direction of RV travel) without either touching the windshield, blocking the driver's visibility, or using a suction cup.
I could also see mounting a camera on a stand affixed to the dashboard behind the instrument cluster which would also not touch the windshield, block the driver's view, nor use a suction cup.
Does anyone know if either of these setups would be considered to violate the suction cup mount restrictions imposed by a number of states? (or where to look for that info?)
