powerderman is right- there is a cost difference between debit transactions and credit transactions. I'm often asked at check-out time if I'm running the card as debit or credit at various establishments. If it's a small mom and pop shop, I'll ask them which is more beneficial to them- almost always the answer is debit. So I tell them do it as debit.
Bull Rider is also right- it's inconsistent across sellers. Some DO offer the cash price for debit transactions.
