I've only used truckstops in CA and AZ, so take my post with a grain of salt if you live/travel elsewhere.
I've always just pulled up, paid inside, then pumped fuel into my truck.
Don't know anything about "master" or "slave" pumps.
Never used an adapter. Though the truck diesel nozzles are larger and don't quite go all the way into the filler neck, I fill at full speed and it always seems to click-off when full, like a regular pump.
Truckers are used to seeing RV's filling up. Don't worry about them, if the truck pumps are full then wait in line like everyone else.
It's not really possible for me to use an automotive station to fill up with diesel when my overall length is around 55 feet and I need 13.5 feet of overhead clearance...
