Seems to me this really got to be a problem when they went to "Pay Inside Before You Pump" nonsense. Now people leave a card inside and are hesitant to move the vehicle before they pay and pick up their card. Can't say as I blame them, but I use the pay-at-the-pump whenever possible so it's not an issue so much for me.
