Full-time and don't/didn't like it?

As with any activity there are those that absolutely LOVE it and those can't stand it/don't understand it.


Golf.....
Can't stand it or get into it at all.
Whack a ball then have to go find it so you can whack it again.....hole after hole/all day

But that is me............1000's love it and 'jones' for it.


What matters is HOW you feel about it.
Don't invision doing it...then don't.
Why worry about 'others' ???


We FTd for 7 yrs and would still be on the road IF life hadn't thrown a curve ball when it did......that was almost 6 yrs ago and still miss it.
We TRAVELED.....weekly/bi-monthly and don't understand the 'parking'/Living in an RV (Snowbirds/Permanent Residents) BUT it works for them.
TRAVELING worked for US.

I think those who sell their house, an increasing asset, spend it all on a RV with none set back for the future, can find them in trouble when they have to sell their RV, a decreasing asset, to buy a home.

we're very similar to the OP...typical snowbirds. we have zero interest in going full-time.

You'd have to be near brain-dead to do anything that rash.

If I had to put numbers on it. I would surmise a vast majority have no intentions on a full time RV lifestyle. I never thought of it as the rule not the exception.

When we first retired we thought about full timing and joined a full timers club. We kept our house and traveled for 3 months. Gave up the full time idea and traveled for 3 months, then home for 3 months. That worked fine for us. As the years have gone by we travel far less and are home far more. I have known several couples that gave up their home for full timing and when the time came to give it up did not have the resources to reestablish a home. Full timers need to have a plan to get out when the time comes

My wife and I talk about going Full Time in a few years, but in all honesty, we will most likely be snowbirds. We love our house and enjoy Northwest Montana, but to be able to leave the snow to travel around exploring other parts of the country for several months out of the year would be heaven.

I don't think a FT lifestyle would suit us. The longest experience in our TT was 6 weeks and we looked forward to a home without wheels.
