For years directions to my house included, turn right where the Oak Tree used to be.. and people did know where it was.. It has been nearly 20 years now, so only people who have been in the area longer know the directions now. The Oak Tree was in the middle of the intersection and VERY OLD. It created all kinds of controversy when they were cutting it down to widen the road, even made the national news.
I was on a "Dial-A-Ride" (assistive bus for the disabled) and the driver drove past a house two times before checking the address again as he had picked the lady up for years - knew the house by the large tree in the front yard - yep the tree had been taken down.
Our home-base area is growing so fast that after being gone 9-12 months that it takes us a week to scope out where we "know" businesses are ... and another business has put up a large bldg. right next door or they have changed the turn lanes .. so far no one-way streets .. Thank goodness they can't change the mall ! And the rv park we use is still there ...
