If you drive 12,000 miles a year and your vehicle gets 15 mpg. $4/gal fuel will cost you $800 more over a year than $3/gal fuel. So the dollars aren't much bigger than a couple of trips to Costco. Also, it isn't something you have any control over. Lots of wasted energy goes into worrying about fuel prices from a consumer standpoint.
