Gas grill question

I have a Jayco MH with the gas grill that attaches to the side of the unit and connects directly to the on-board propane tank. I would like to use the grill AWAY from the MH on a picnic table etc. I need to get some kind of extension hose to make that happen. Is this grill considered to use low pressure or high pressure? I already have the short hose, I just need some kind of way to extend the hose 10 - 15 feet way from the unit. Anyone who has used one of these grills before and can give me info on how well they work would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have a version of the RV-Q type grill that mounts to the side of a trailer. If you have a removable regulator on it, your approach might be similar to the conversion I did on my Weber Q. The propane "taps" that are commonly found generally deliver low pressure gas. I got everything from Calore. The concepts are the same and maybe this will be of some help:

Weber Conversion To Low Pressure Propane

Yes it does mount to the side of the MH. Thanks for the great information from all of you. At least I know where to start now.
  • My old Marshal reg has a pipe nipple between the first and second stages and there is about 18 psi at that point so I put in a tee, iso valve and 25' hose to the reg on the camp grill and it heats just like it did from the 1 lb bottle. Marshall doesn't make that one anymore but Rego does have one with a nipple between the stages. It's a lot cleaner looking setup than most of the Rube Goldberg contraptions from the RV stores. Craig

Why not just get a small propane tank (5 lbs, etc.) and put the grill anywhere you want to?

    Agree....

Notice how that Nexgrill Stainless Steel Grill is Rusting! Costco has a serious problem with those units ...Take it back!

Not sure what you are looking at?? There was a little rust on the stainless steel legs and that was it...not a big deal. Maybe you are confusing 'use' marks with rust.

When I forgot to take the grill out of the box behind the pin box while unhitching in Cheyenne recently I crushed the lid when pulling out...that's on me. Went to Costco in Green Bay to get another and noticed there was an upgraded Nexgrill model that had a new leg system. $99 for one of the greatest portable 20K btu grills I've owned and thats why we have another.

    Costco Nexgrill link.
