Gas or diesel filling side

Hello,

I assume that you have the same problem in the US as we have in Europe, when you arrive at the filling station? At which side is the filling cap? Especially if you have 2 cars with different filling sides.

I found the answer on the www by accident and it is SOOO easy...

Look at your fuel gauge and you'll see. :)

Filling on the left: click here.

Filling on the right: click here.

I'm kinda ashamed that I'm fueling cars for more than 20 years and I have never noticed this. :S

If there's no arrow: look at the side of the hose on the icon.

  • Too Funny. I never noticed either. When did they start doing this???
  • I know about the arrows but I've never noticed the hose on the icon corresponding to the tank fill. Will check it out! Yes, it's stupid of the manufacturers to put the fill on the passenger side!
  • Never noticed. The filler cap is usually on the drivers side. My Toyota Yaris is RIGHT HAND drive. The cap is on the left side.

I assume that the majority of that model was built for the LEFT HAND drive market sharing the same body.

Checked my 2004 Yaris today. Danged if there isn't a little pointer that lights up. Never noticed it before.
  • Many stations have longer hoses that will reach either side and most cars fill in the back so the hose easily reaches either side.

My MH will fill from either side. :C
