If the pilot lights and holds normally (mine is hard to light) Let it burn for 2 or 3 minutes and check it again, if it's still burning your options are:
Loss of pressure
Bad control valve (Thermostat) it contains a safety device that senses the flame of the pilot.
I usually heat mine well, then fire the main burner, then it holds till time to turn it off.. I do not use it often, (Every time I make Cheesecake) but I do use it from time to time, Last was 12/17,, Took the cheesecake to the Pot Luck on the 18th (Glad I decided to do that, things happened on the 18th and I was pressed for time, Unlike so many things you can make in advance, Cheesecake MUST be made in advance, so all I had to do was take it out of the fridge and go).
Worked well.
